Excellent schools. As we mentioned above, this is a great place to raise kids and it has excellent schools. There are several primary schools in the area for different grades such as Annex for grades kindergarten through first grade, Marshall elementary grades kindergarten through second grade, South Mountain Elementary for grades kindergarten through fifth grade, the South Orange middle school, the Columbia high school, and an Early Childhood Center for preschoolers.

The high school ranks as one of the top school districts in Essex County and because South Orange is also a college town, were home to Seton Hall University, a private Catholic University named in 2021 of the best colleges by US News & World Report.

Year-round activities. This is a nature lover's dream. There's so much to do in the outdoors such as visiting some of the many parks around South Orange, sports fields, and winter activities such as ice-skating on Duck Pond were sledding at Floods Hill. With trails and parks, stunning views on the South Mountain Reservation in the beautiful 25 foot Hemlock Falls, the outdoor activities, events, and festivals are endless. Hint - Check out the Wildflower Sculpture Park!
